Motorola's next top-of-the-range smartphone has been at the center of a lot of rumors over the past few weeks and particularly in the last few days. Lenovo China's general manager earlier this week has released a teaser that would suggest the imminent launch of a new smartphone with Snapdragon 8xx processor. However, the General Manager has not revealed anything about the possible name under which it will be marketed. In these hours then, the Chinese technology giant has released a new teaser image on the device always through Motorola's official Weibo page confirming that the device will come to market as Motorola Edge S, until today known by the code name "Nio". It would therefore be the successor of the Motorola Edge launched last year. The post does not mention any details regarding the device, but the well-known Chinese tipster, Digital Chat Station, previously suggested that the phone will be powered by a new Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 series SoC and not therefore by the Snapdragon 888 or 865 given it. last year.
We are not sure about the possible technical specifications that will characterize the device but according to some information leaked in the past, it should sport an FHD + display and an unusual 105 Hz refresh rate. According to a list that appeared on Geekbench published at the end of 2020, the device would have been powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 combined with 8/12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of internal memory. This suggests to us that the as yet unannounced Snapdragon 800 series chip may be based on last year's flagship SoC. Furthermore, since there is already an overclocked version of the SoC, the Snapdragon 865+, the new chipset could represent an underpowered variant.
Other leaked details about the Motorola Nio would refer to the rear photographic compartment with the presence of a 64 MP main sensor, a 16 MP ultra wide angle sensor and a 2 MP depth sensor. Two sensors would be housed at the front, with the 16 MP primary combined with an 8 MP ultra-wide angle sensor. Android 11 would be available already at launch.
