Galaxy S20 and S20 +, what differences with Galaxy S10 and S10 +?

Samsung has just raised the curtain on the new generation of smartphones Galaxy S20, Galaxy S20+ e Galaxy S20 Ultra. An event full of announcements that also saw the arrival of the second folding smartphone, Galaxy Z Flip, and of the new true wireless earphones, Galaxy Buds +. The South Korean company has followed the tradition by presenting three new top-of-the-range smartphones. If the Ultra model can be considered a novelty even in the name, the same cannot be said for the S20 and S20 + which represent the natural evolution of the Galaxy S10 and S10 + predecessors.

Nothing S20e. The smartphone with the smallest size this year is the S20 which - in fact - replaces last year's Galaxy S10e. Too many names, too much confusion. With this article, we try to clarify and highlight what changes compared to Galaxy S10 and S10 +.

    Galaxy S20 and S20 +, what differences with Galaxy S10 and S10 +?

The first big difference is obviously present at the hardware level. The new generation of smartphones integrates Samsung's recent Exynos 990 processor coupled with 8 or 12 Gigabytes of LPDRR5 RAM, which should offer double the read and write speed, double the bandwidth and significantly reduce power consumption. The internal memory is 128 Gigabyte which goes from UFS 2.1 to UFS 3.0. It goes up to 512 Gigabytes for the S20 +. Therefore, the version with 1 Terabyte of storage available for S10 + has disappeared.

Galaxy S20 is the most compact model, but they increase the size compared to the predecessor. The display is 6,2 inches (6,1 inches for S10) made with Dynamic AMOLED technology and 120 Hz refresh rate. There remains the hole on the screen that still houses a 10 Megapixel front camera. Instead, the rear photographic module changes and not only in the form. The most impressive novelty is the integration of the 64 Megapixel telephoto lens (f / 2.0) which enables a 3X optical zoom (S10 went up to 2X). The battery capacity increases: it goes from 3.400 mAh to 4.000 mAh. Below are the two technical data sheets in comparison.

    Galaxy S20 and S20 +, what differences with Galaxy S10 and S10 +?

Let's move on to the Plus model. In addition to the aforementioned hardware platform improvements, Galaxy S20 + gets even bigger by integrating a 6,7-inch Dynamic AMOLED display (6,4-inch for S10 +) with the same features as its younger brother. Also in this case, we find differences with regard to the photographic sector. Together with the 64 Megapixel sensor it finds its place a fourth sensor dedicated to depth of field, absent on the predecessor.

Also, the newcomer loses the second 8 Megapixel front camera present on S10 + hosting a single 10 Megapixel sensor. Finally, the battery becomes 4.500 mAh against the previous 4.100 mAh. Below, the diagram with the two technical data sheets compared.
