Mario Kart 8 Deluxe: track and track guide (part 1, Mushroom Trophy)

Another lap, another race: after Smash, it's time to dedicate a guide to the tracks and tracks of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe ... starting from the beginning

We thought, given the staggered publication of runway and traced extra of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, to do some guide in ... reverse and go through them all in review. Contrary to what we have done (or rather, we are finishing up) with Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, we will not cover the roster since the differences between the various characters are much less marked. Today we will therefore start with the Mushroom Trophy: there we will find the Mario Kart Stadium, the Water Park, the Dolce Dolce Canyon and the Twomp Ruins waiting for us. In addition, our appointments will be shorter: four runs per episode. Are you ready? Street!

Mario Kart Stadium

Lo Mario Kart Stadium it is, like any self-respecting first circuit, an excellent 8 Deluxe showcase and is the best way to open our guide to tracks and tracks for this very reason.

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe: track and track guide (part 1, Mushroom Trophy)

  • Layout: Few curves and a sloping section, with which players are introduced to the anti-gravity sections. In these parts of the track, physically colliding with other drivers guarantees a turbo boost. At the end of the last parabolic curve, a descent takes the player to a ramp for gliding, after which the last curve before the finish can be found.
  • Valutazione: An excellent demonstration of the game for those who do not know it yet, but without too many opportunities to revisit it once you become familiar with the most creative level designs. 7,5 / 10.

Water Park - Mario Kart 8 Deluxe track and track guide

The second of today's tracks is also the first of the tracks to offer underwater sections in our Mario Kart 8 Deluxe guide. The Water park try to combine the level design seen before with the mechanics of underwater driving. The results can be mixed.

  • Layout: Beyond curves and ramps, the track does not present any particular pitfalls. However, the loop of the death with antigravity is an integral part of the initial editing for a reason: here the game tries to combine one of the main gameplay innovations of the previous game, underwater driving, with the possibility of driving on very, very different surfaces. A glide awaits you just before the finish line: watch out for Wario's Ferris wheel, in the hard-fought races it can make the difference!
  • Valutazione: A good follow-up to the Mario Kart Stadium, but far from the best the game has to offer. With more lenient competition, especially with the upcoming DLC, the track would have been less disfigured. 7/10.

Dolce Dolce Canyon - Mario Kart 8 Deluxe tracks and tracks guide

Someone on the Nintendo staff must have been impressed by Wreck-It Ralph's approach to the kart racer genre, because Dolce Dolce Canyon would not have disfigured in the Disney animated film. However, tackling this track for the first time could prove to be a bit confusing.

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe: track and track guide (part 1, Mushroom Trophy)

  • Layout: It will not be the Pista Arcobaleno, but this track is still the first (if we go in order) to include a central part completely devoid of guardrails. Among the thousand colors of the track, the aerial phase, the consequent central fork that leads to two different paths both without borders and the Piranha Plants before the finish line, for the first time the distraction could be worth a second place. And a mushroom on the last corner could help you get back on top ...
  • Valutazione: This third track ages like wine. You may hate her in your first races, but learning her nothing prevents you from loving her. We would like to reward it more, but playing with friends we have seen how nerve-wracking it can be to play it for those with visual impairments. 8/10.

Ruins of Twomp

Here we are at the last of the tracks and tracks that we will see today for the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Mushroom Trophy. The Ruins of Twomp they are what the name suggests: a rocky setting that is home to the beloved (?) enemies of the main series. Don't expect to see only Twomp (without the ac, if the Spanish translation is consistent) flying up and then collapsing, though.

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe: track and track guide (part 1, Mushroom Trophy)

  • Layout: There is much more than what we have said, actually. After the first curves, on your right (we take this opportunity to specify that in the guide we will not take into account the mirror mode) you will find an anti-gravity section on the wall. This will prevent you from running into the rolling millstones (from Donkey Kong Country, no less!). The junction a little further on allows you to choose whether to take the underwater roads on the sides or the one in the center (inaccessible on the first lap). The last few sloping curves present potential shortcuts, but never without mushrooms. The final glide will lead you to the finish.
  • Valutazione: A worthy conclusion to the first cup of the game, as well as an excellent circuit to gain experience. Replaying and dominating this track will prepare you properly for the next one… but we'll talk about it in the next episode. 7,5 / 10.
