Nintendo Switch Online: the Nintendo 64 games we would like to (re) see

For a few months now, retrogaming fans and non-retrogaming enthusiasts have been able to enjoy a bit of nostalgia thanks to Nintendo Switch Online, but we are sure that other Nintendo 64 titles could be added.

We have already talked about the best titles for that historic console in more detail here and we must still say that, on Nintendo Switch Online, someone is already there, but if compared with the catalog of titles for NES and SNES, then, the gap with those for the Nintendo 64 widens. So what could be the games that can't be missing? We tried to jot down some ideas about it.

The current situation in a nutshell

Currently, on Nintendo Switch Online, there are just over a dozen games for Nintendo 64 and others have already been announced. However, comparing the amount of these with the NES and SNES catalog numbers, you too will understand that there is a slight imbalance. And let's not forget that many of the titles for 8 and 16-bit consoles had already been repurposed for the miniature versions of their consoles of origin.

Be that as it may, we report below some of the titles made for the console, with the claw controller, the most famous ever. Obviously some of these have already been treated separately, but let's not waste any more time:

  • Super Mario 64
  • Mario barth 64
  • dr mario 64
  • Mario Tennis
  • Paper Mario
  • Yoshi's Story
  • The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
  • The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask
  • Banjo-Kazooie
  • f zero x
  • Lylat Wars
  • Sin & Punishment
  • Operation Winback

At first glance it could be said that not bad, but you could have done a little more. Thankfully, more games such as Pokémon Snap, Mario Golf and Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards (impossible not to put it after the blockbuster of Kirby and the Lost Land that we have already analyzed in depth). Once these points have been clarified, let's go and see what games we would like to see on that service in the next future!

GoldenEye 007 - Nintendo Switch Online: the Nintendo 64 games we would like to (re) see

Based onmovie of the same name from 1995, GoldenEye 007 is a real gem of the Rare that has brought, on this console, its very personal revolution in the field of first person shooters. Think that then, by attacking other controllers, it was possible to play together up to a maximum of four, a very pioneering choice for those times.

Pilotwings 64 - Nintendo Switch Online: the Nintendo 64 games we would like to (re) see

This is a lack that is particularly felt given that, on the other catalog, there is its "counterpart" for SNES and that is the first chapter. Here we are always faced with a sort of flight simulation, but it is much more fun, crazy and colorful and, above all, with a really good soundtrack for the time. Listen to believe!

Mario Party - Nintendo Switch Online: the Nintendo 64 games we would like to (re) see

Given the success of the series, especially with the latest Mario Party Superstars, it wouldn't have been bad to see at least the first (we have already talked about that here) of the three chapters released for this console. Fun and innovative from the first moments of play and able to cheer up any gloomy evening when you wanted to have fun with friends.

Banjo - Tooie - Nintendo Switch Online: the Nintendo 64 games we would like to (re) see

Since there is the first exceptional chapter of this saga, before it suffered some derailments in the future, the lack of Banjo - Tooie feels even stronger. Here the story takes place two years after the events narrated in the first chapter. The witch Gruntilda is a bunch of bones, but her other colleagues want to resurrect her to help her enact her revenge on Banjo and her friends.

Super Smash Bros. - Nintendo Switch Online: the Nintendo 64 games we would like to (re) see

Since, as already mentioned at the beginning, the famous pink ball will also arrive, why not bring to this service also the first chapter of the very famous Super Smash Bros. series? Obviously always created by the brilliant mind of Masahiro Sakurai (at the time he was not even thirty years old)! Of course, the signs of time are visible a little, but know that it was the beginning of something even greater and that, with Ultimate, it still lives today.

Donkey Kong 64 - Nintendo Switch Online: the Nintendo 64 games we would like to (re) see

Wanting to be a little more "bad", together with the first chapter of Smash, this is perhaps the most serious lack. Given that the poor primate has just completed his years, and few have remembered to wish him well, it would really be the case of bring back one of his greatest adventures ever! We will not waste further lines because we know how much this title, to be better described, must first be played absolutely.

Diddy Kong Racing - Nintendo Switch Online: the Nintendo 64 games we would like to (re) see

On board the service offered by the last console of the Grande N there is obviously the racing title dedicated to our dear plumber combined with that of the 16-bit era. So why not settle the score, since in the SNES catalog there is also his almost solo adventure, with the crazy races of Diddy & associates? A lightweight title that is always a pleasure to rediscover also because, among the riders, you will notice a certain squirrel and a certain bear of our knowledge.

Conker's Bad Fur Day - Nintendo Switch Online: the Nintendo 64 games we'd like to (re) see

Dating back to 2001 and always developed by Rare this is one of those titles that to define "politically incorrect" would be an understatement. Here the dose of violence, swearing, adult content and madness in general is at the highest levels. Everything is made even more extreme by the fact that it is all set in a world of cute and cuddly animals, apparently, but which in truth hide a dose of unrivaled wickedness. Highly recommended!

Star Wars - Shadows of the Empire - Nintendo Switch Online: the Nintendo 64 games we would like to (re) see

The universe of videogame titles based on immortal saga of Star Wars conceived by the good George Lucas now a few years ago, it has always been in constant expansion and there really has been something for everyone. From RPG to the LEGO version, everything, so strongly consider hiding as the smuggler Dash Rendar, explore theexpanded universe of the brand and enjoy one of the best-selling titles of the "distant" 1997.

Rayman 2: The Great Escape - Nintendo Switch Online: the Nintendo 64 games we would like to (re) see

Most likely it is one of the most successful and appreciated sequels in the saga of Rayman since it was the first transposition in three dimensions, a bit like dear old Mario, of this particular hero. Enjoying a transposition also on PC, Dreamcast, the first PlayStation and the Game Boy Color (obviously in his own way) here our hero will have to save his world and his friends from Captain Razorbeard and his fearsome crew. Intense, full of secrets and irresistible for all lovers of the platform made as it should.

In conclusion (closing the whim)

So let's close this small list which, from a certain point of view, it seems almost a "whim" of a child who, as soon as he gets hold of something he wants, plays with it a bit and then gets tired immediately and asks for another, more beautiful and bigger one.

Well, in some ways we could say that it is almost like that, but in any case it remains true that, with a service like Nintendo Switch Online for € 40 per year, it is more than legitimate to expect even more titles from NES, SNES and 64. The next step would be to have emulations of some of the best GameCube titles, but for the time being, let's enjoy what we have.

If though we wanted to be a little more "capricious", then you might also require The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time – Master Quest (Zeruda no Densetsu: Toki no Okarina GC Ura) given the presence of Japanese titles, Toy Story 2: Buzz Lightyear to the Rescue (already mentioned in our special dedicated to videogame transpositions of cartoons), Pokémon Stadium, WaveRace 64 and one, or all, of the first three chapters of Turok released for this console.

For the moment there is nothing left to do but to make ourselves comfortable and wait, but to deceive the wait how about recover the oldest chapters of the major videogame sagas at the best price ever? If your answer is yes, then click here, while, to be constantly updated on everything that happens in the world of video games of yesterday and today, we are always waiting for you here on {marca_origen}!
