The video camera | Nilox Dual S review

Made of glossy and matte black plastic, it offers a bel design. The two screens are well integrated into the body and give an excellent pre-visualization of the scene. Very light, equipped with a tripod connection and with two batteries supplied. His stands out waterproof case which makes little Nilox bombproof. Always concerns the accessories, note of merit for the equipment that includes, in addition to what has already been mentioned: 4 laces, 1 cloth to clean the lens, stickers, non-waterproof support, handlebar hook. Several shooting modes available:

  • XNUMX. Cookies 4K@60fps, 2,7K@30fps, 1080p@120fps. 720p@240fps (slow motion 4x a 1080p, 8x a 720p)
  • Time Lapse: up to 4K at intervals of 0,5, 1, 2, 5, 10, 30 or 60 seconds
  • Photos: 24, 20, 16, 13 ed 8 megapixel
  • Burst: 3, 5, 10 poses per second
  • Self-timer timer (up to 20 seconds)
  • Shoot at intervals of 3, 10, 15, 20 or 30 seconds.

The software is in Spanish, very easy to manage thanks to an interface both via buttons and touch. A decent set of in-camera corrections is available, among which stand out: image distortion, WB, exposure compensation, sharpness. The settings are reachable only when the action cam is not recording. Much fast lo switch tra i due display which, of course, don't work at the same time. Good video quality during the day and in good light, a little less at night or in difficult conditions. Good autonomy, about 1 hour 4k recording, we did not like to see that the footage is broken up into a 20min video.

In motion with… | Nilox Dual S review

In our test, little Nilox kept us company on ours motorcycle on the streets of Roma and in holiday al sea. We were amazed by the stability of the fixing bracket to the bike handlebar: despite the cobblestones it never moved. All to the advantage of the final quality of the shots. Even in the rain, thanks to the waterproof case, we did not encounter any problems. We found aexcellent touch sensitivity which, even with our motorcycle gloves, had no problems whatsoever. The same goes for the keys, easy to press and well positioned, easy to use without getting distracted from driving and allowing some adjustments on the fly in traffic lights. Convinced by this result, we tested the small Nilox Dual S at the seaside and carried out some underwater shooting: truly spectacular. No infiltration problems, and despite the case the image quality has always remained the same.

The dynamic range proved sufficient on almost all occasions, while the sharpness was not excellent in the backlight due to an annoying flare. There is a slight change to yellow in the color temperature which, however, is easily corrected in the production site. Promoted so the video side. The same considerations apply to photos but not everything: the jpg is not very workable and it is really complex to make a good post production of the photos.

The audio is mono, the microphone is very sensitive to background noise, so it will always be necessary to clean the audio if you use it for vlogs.

Double screen double happiness

A product like this is definitely a best buy in its price range. Certainly not comparable to what is offered in the high end of the market, especially with regard to stabilization, it is the right compromise between expense and result. Nothing is missing, and it is usable on any occasion. The double screen is essential for making V-logs or some self-portraits. In our opinion, although some time has passed since its release, Nilox Dual S remains a product to focus on: little expense, a lot of performance and an extra gear compared to competitors.
