From a technical point of view the game defends itself very well, we tested the version PS4 in backward compatibility su PS5 and kept constant i 60fps, giving a pleasant glance. Will he be able to satisfy us? Read on to discover our review.

The plot…

The first thing after starting the "start" button is the customization of ours avatar. Simple enough, but with a wide range of possibilities. It was a day like any other when, suddenly, a huge black hole appeared out of nowhere, sucking me into it.

We will wake up hearing the voice of Trunks, which as in the Xenoverse and the main story, acts as storm patrol. The boy informs us that strange faults are appearing in the world, capable of sucking people inside and throwing them into areas of chaos, where places and eras mix. As if that weren't enough, they are raided by the most powerful opponents previously defeated (Freezer, Cell e Majin Bu).

This is where we (and a lot of other ordinary humans) come in, helping Trunks to save the planet. Not all the inhabitants were discouraged and helped the boy to create a new one time Machine. Removed these premises and after meeting a young woman Bulma together with his trusty travel companion Oolong, we will be teleported to the observatory of the Supreme, where we will begin our "temporal stabilization" operation.

What is it about? - Dragon Ball The Breakers review

Taking on the role of our civilian avatar, found to face these dangerous missions inside the temporal rifts, the game will adopt a format of 7v1, where we will have to explore a fairly large map divided into five areas which has been assigned a letter from A to E, and where in each of these hides one key of power, which will be used to activate the super time machine, capable of restoring the normal flow of time by eliminating chaos, but which will allow us to return to safety.

Much of the chaos that rages on these game maps, however, is caused by a raider, a dangerous enemy entity that prowls the length and breadth causing destruction, and that will not be very happy with our presence. The raider impersonated by Freeza, Cell or Majin Buu, will be able to destroy entire areas as if nothing had happened, clean up the NPCs who are hiding.

Seeking Finds - Dragon Ball The Breakers Review

Survivors will have to look for the keys in red and blue chests but, if they do not contain the coveted key, inside them we will find useful objects for survival, in the blue crates you will be able to find them energy cells to restore your barrier and be able to take a second hit from the raider, or the legendary beans sense which will allow resuscitation instantly a partner or yourself.

in red crates there will be more offensive options such as i Vegeta's gloves to perform a Galick Cannon, or dei Rocket launcher to distract the raider, in both chests we will find power cubes, which will fill our bar and allow us to perform one Transformation of the Dragon, that is to momentarily obtain the skills of one of the famous Warriors Z (Tara Cui Goku, Junior, Gohan) to fight against the raider on equal terms for a few seconds and perform the famous moves including the Kamehameha.

In addition to this we will be able to count on some ability to recharge, to make life easier for us as a grapple to reach higher points, or recall one capsule saiyan to instantly reach a point on the map of our choice. It all sounds nice, but remember that we're just humans and we'd get KO'd in a couple of raider hits, so collaboration is key.

Play as the Raider - Dragon Ball The Breakers Review

The role of the raider is more immediate, at the time of launch, they are alone three: to be selected before starting the mission, that is Freezer, Cell e Majin Bu. Each of these will start in its basic form, and will upgrade over the course of the game with their respective unique abilities.

  • Frieza: it will start from its first form. Attack after attack, by exterminating various NPCs and players in cold blood and finishing them with the appropriate skill, he will be able to perform the various transformation steps.
  • Cell: instead it will start in its insect form, and then move on to the other evolutions up to the perfect form simply by absorbing NPCs or players thanks to the appropriate skill.
  • Majin Bu: it will not be present immediately but initially the raider will check Spopovich looking for energy to awaken Fat It, who will then be able to evolve and become Super Buu or Kid Buu thanks to their unique abilities.

Kill Them All - Dragon Ball The Breakers Review

The role of the raider is that of the Killer , in the role of the villain we will have to look around the map for citizens to consume to allow us to evolve at least at the first stage and fight properly, from their also the raiders will not only have abilities and skills, but special attacks to inflict massive damage. Also, after a few transformations, they will be given the option (after about 10 seconds of charging) to instantly destroy an entire play area.

Should the survivors manage to summon the time machine there will still be one last hope of victory for the raider, that is to destroy it completely, a process that will require us to stand still for at least a good minute and subject to attacks by the survivors.

Both factions will also have access to Mythics dragon balls, which must be all and seven possessed by a single individual before they can summon the dragon Shenron and request your wish (generally a power boost to all survivors or the final transformation for the raider).

Not entirely free-to-play - Dragon Ball The Breakers review

At the end of each match we will also earn Zeni, usable both to buy new gadgets, new phrases for the raiders, or new clothing. There is a mechanic called spirit capsule, a real one up to executable with any currency of the game (both free and paid) to get new spirits. Also in the game there are also some daily and weekly missions.

Conclusion

The game in terms of aesthetics and graphics gives a pleasant glance. The various finisher of the raiders are spectacular. Keep in mind that you will find yourself in front of a title shallow and, in the long run quite repetitive. Being a purely online game in the 90% of the cases he behaved excellently without lag in matches.

In other games, however, the game got stuck on the screen pre-match forcing us to quit and restart the game. To play the raider's shoes, we should at least play 5 games as a survivor. Unjustified absence of a function cross play, which will often leave us in the queue come on 5 / 20 minutes before finding all the participants.

With these premises very clear, Dragon Ball: The Breakers can be a fun experience for those who have already played titles like Friday the 13th o Dead by Daylight and, at the same time, he is also a diehard Dragon Ball fan.
